LAST WEEK I WAS AT A FRIENDS HOUSE AND WE WERE LISTENING TO KING DIAMOND'S THE CANDLE,... AND TOOK SOME TIME TO NOTICE HOW HORRIBLE MY FRIEND WAS AT MATCHING HIS NOTES OR EVEN TO BE IN TUNE, SO I DEVELOPED A SMALL, EASY EXERSISE TO BENEFIT ANY CLEAN VOCALIST. BY CLEAN VOCALS I DONT MEAN KORN, LIMP BIZKIT AND THAT GAY SHIT  ,... I MEAN KING DIAMOND, SYMPHONY-X, BRUCE DICKENSON, AND OPERA METAL TYPE THINGS.

FIRST THERE ARE 5 VOCAL SOUNDS A-E-I-O-U.... THIS EXERSICE WILL INCREASE YOUR SUSTAIN,VIBRATO, BREATHING PATTERNS ( FOR BETTER VOCLAS) AND MELODY ENTONATION, IT WILL ALSO MAKE YOU BETTER AT CREATING GREAT VOICINGS ON GUITAR. THE X'S STAND FOR SHORT 1 SECOND BREATHS,THE VOWEL SOUNDS ARE SUNG THE WAY THEY SOUND AND IN PARENTHESES IS THE TIME YOU HOLD THE NOTE (IF ANY),... SO LETS BEGIN

EXAMPLE 1
O (2) x A (5) E (5) x ...... EASY HUH!? HERES A HARD ONE

EXAMPLE 2
A(5) I (10) A(3) E(2) x A(5) I (10) A(3) E(2) NOT CHALLENGING ENOUGH...

EXAMPLE 3
U (15) A (15) I (2) x I (2) A (15) U( 15)

NOW THAT YOU GOT THE IDEA MAKE UP ANOTHER 3 EXERSISES AND PRACTICE ALL 6 FOR AT LEAST HALF HOUR A DAY.

hmm, that's interesting. It's good because it gears towards the non-musician. Unlike mine which had notes, this seems like a good exercise for a person who doesn't feel the need to know music theory.

Your theory version was great man,... and yes i made the extersise so that the average non musicican can work with it and get something out of it as well. I do understand theory and notation too, so i think youre extersise was a badass one. oh, by the way did i viloate any of the rules? If i did let me know, ill try not to fuck up. Thanks

I don't really get how I do this man... Sorry if I sound like a complete idiot but I just don't know how, I don't get what your saying actually, I am sure I know how to do it but just don't get what your explaining here. What's the numbers mean there and how do I say the letter things you are trying to show? Thanks for any help.

Sorry about not making myslef quite clear on this issue and im glad , you are requesting more info on this extercise and glad i could help out, ( thats what we post here for).... well lets begin A-E-I-O-U are the tones you will be singing in

 Example 1

A- sing it AYYYYYYYYYYYY
E- sing it EIIIIIIIIIIII
I- AIYYYYYYYY
O- OHHHHHHHHHHHH
U- YOUUUUUUUUUUU

warmn up for a while because what im about to show you could be quite tricky at first, but itll help your entonation, articulation and breathing patterns to make you a more resistant vocalist.
Now let me explain the how deatl with the X's,... well we all when talking or singing breath unconsiously and dont realize it, and there are time the less air on your wind pipes the better and more precise a note will sound and the longer you can go singing without staining your vocal chords. The X's just stand for a breath of air to refresh your chords. So now that you are warmed up and know the procedure try this ...

 Example 2

A-O-U kool huh... :flame:

Well now lets make it a little bit more complex, the numbers you were telling me about are the seconds you hold out the note for

A(5)- O(2) -X -U (3) :flame:

so this would just bassicly tell you sing ahhh for 5 seconds, Ohhhh for 2 ( without breathing in between, just changing the pitch) then the X (breath) and sing the uhhhhhhh for 3 seconds. Now try the extersises on the lesson, hope you get something out of this, and thanks for your post. and remember when making up your 3 extersises i mentined on the main post, work around your style,.. Thanks,... CLASS DISMISED,lol

Thanks for the info man, yeah and that's not your fault, I am just a dumb ass and don't know anything about singing and all that kind of shit, I play guitar and drums and that's it and want to get into some of the vocal things and all just for the hell of it.
Thanks again.

Thats great, I play drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards,lol... and of course sing... my solo project after my old band broke up. Its like a opeth meets dream theatre plus dominate style mordid angel!! Thanks
