Heres something my guitar teacher (who sings too) gave me along time ago to help me harness my voice. Thought it might be useful to some of you who actually want to sing. Enjoy!

Haha, sorry, but your teacher can't even spell right:rolleyes:. Was he school for it, or is he one of those dudes that can just sing as a natural talent?

@Doc/Nomad:

I had a couple threads in the guitar zone about this subject, it may be nice for one of you guys to move it here. Thanks. This forum is well worth it!

I dunno, but I really don't use technique for singing much (like in the arpeggio's here) but maybe they're good for practise.

There is always taping the Vocal Lesson on Musician TV (no not MTV) on Sky for those of you in the UK.. its the one b4 music choice. It does exercises and practice for a 30min session. I have been lucky in that I have a natural ability with singin but still trying to get my range higher my voice is rather low and masculine, and I'm scared if I tried too hard with growling which Ive been doing lately, (oh and the smoking doesnt help!!!), I could lose my good singing voice.

He didn't type any of the text, I did hence the spelling mistakes :). He majored in music I think.

Let's start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you read you begin with a-b-c
When you sing you begin with do-re-me
Doe-re-me, doe-re- me
The first three notes just happen to be
Doe-re-me , doe-re-me

Doe a deer a female deer
Ray a drop of golden sun
Me a name I call myself
Fa a long, long way to run
So a needle pulling thread
La a note to follow so
Tea a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to doe

My goodness ! I can't believe I remember that after ........30+ years !!!

I read through the tips at the beginning and powers' threads. Lots of helpfulstuff there. Maybe since I'll be unemployed soon I'll get back into music more seriously.
When I was a kid back in the 60's and began our church youth choir our director was big into opera (and she sort of looked like Beverly Sills even) and we did a lot of mee-may-ma-moe-moo's every practice. It is good and a couple years ago when I was singing a lot more I did those up and down the scales. I finally after donkeys years sang my upper register without that break in my voice. I found I could control it.

But now I get so out of breath it really sucks and my throat ends up hurting before a song's halfway through. (I'm just disgusted about that so don't mind me. Just watch your partyin' cuz those old days may have something to do with it. Believe me , I could sing a lot better than play.)

Singing is gay. Only nu-metal fags sing.

obviously all those tennor gouys who get paid lots of money to roam the world are nothing but nu-metal fags?
and all those "power" metal bands are really nu-metal kiddies in discuise

edit: ha ha ha, he has Lamb Of God and God Forbid in his profile under favourite bands

whats so wrong with Lamb of God and God Forbid?
And singing in my opinion is annoying and it is just an intermission from heavy parts.
