Does anyone know of a website that explains how the guitar works, and what can be done to tweak the sound?

A friend of mine gave me his old shitty guitar and I want to really mess with it, I'm even going to add a B bass string to it. But I'd like to give the guitar a very distinct sound, so if anyone knows of any sites that explains the guitar and it's workings it would be of great help!

Ah, thanks alot guys. You've all been a great help. I found out my friend knows an extensive amount about all this and he said he would do the specs I wanted. I'll post a picture of the guitar when I'm done.

Squier "bullet series". It's going to be the wierdist thing you'll ever see. I've got alot of good ideas for it.

Oh man you should put a fucking MIDI synth in there, our producer is building this crazy 5 pick up strat as well, its gonna have a light on it for the midi, and a humbucker, a single coil, a mini humbucker, and i think bass humbucker or something i cant remember

A MIDI synth on a guitar? How very wierd.

Tom Morello has this patch on the side of his guitar that he taps with his guitar jack which sends a small volt into the guitar that produces a very wierd sound that he delays and then plays over it. I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Didnt he used to do that by jamming the cord into his pickups?? .... Hes just asking for an accident.
