Minor Threat, Ramones, (older Misfits), and Black Flag are cool too, but other than that I'm not really into punk. The image is stupid too.
Dead Kennedys

i like Thrice, Death By Stereo, and older Sum 41 (half hour of power, i think this is the album before the one that got famous). i only like punk bands, that mix in a little bit of metal with their style, like the 3 bands i mentioned.

So basically shut the fuck up. I have seen a countless number of posts recently from you which have made no sense whatsoever, including the one before the one I just quoted.

ahahahaha! Damn man...I never knew. I guess that is why you thought i worshipped myself. I wish I was Jason Becker. I'm just Koltan Huget. But I am obsessed with Jason Becker. www.jasonbecker.com go enlighten yourself. Buy his cd's , buy Cacophony cd's (he is in it). But dude ahaha i never would have though that you thought that I was Jason Becker. I understand why you thought i was a total fag. I would have an ego problem if I worshipped myself like that. But anyways...

So yeah punk...
I've been getting into punk lately.
What are some really hardcore punk bands like Infest and shit like that you can give me? It just needs to be fast punk, angry sounding and shit. Like anyone seen American History X what is that Nazi band playing? I've been looking for some nazi punk and found some so yeah.

2005-10-17, 10:30
For Nazi punk bands, check out Deaths Head and Warfare 88.
I liked punk as a kid, mainly stuff like No Fun At All, The Descendents, Raised Fist, Rise Against, Pulley and Strung Out.
I still have loads of punk cd's but I don't listen to them that often, just every now and then when I feel like it. it's good to bring up memories every now and then.
I can't stand ska and oi, they're utter crap. I can't stand uber-happy 'look at me I'm skanking'-crap.

For Nazi punk bands, check out Deaths Head and Warfare 88.
what the hell is nazi punk? just punk bands with Nazi related lyrics or something more ?
I'm not overly much into punk, but Green Day has something special. Their latest album "American Idiot" really must be the most mature collection of songs I've ever heard come out of the punk scene. And Billie Joe's acting in the video for Basket Case... well, love em' or hate em'.
Seriously though, "American Idiot" is a great achievement. And to see those morons on MTV give them grammys for it, now that was priceless...
When I think of punk I think of the Sex Pistols and that's about it. Ramones were more mainstreamish and not real radical so I don't consider them punk. And although Green Day is very good i dont' think of them as punk either. Maybe pop punk, but not old skool punk.
When AudioGalaxy was still around they had the genres of music broke down and one of theirs was cow punk. I was always intrigued with that idea, but I don't remember what it was.

Cool, Ill have to check them out. Right now White Power and Forward Area are doing it for me, and I've formed a nazi punk band.
Nazi punk is like hardcore punk or powerviolence but a little more punk related and of course nazi lyrical themes. Short fast and loud in every sense!

I listen to Newer Street Punk (A Global Threat, Cheap Sex) and Hardcore Punk (Agnostic Front) it is good stuff... but Nazi Punk? As the Dead Kennedys said it best 'Nazi Punks Fuck Off' Punk stands for everything National Socialism doesnt.
Yeah i like punk but rock and metal is better.

Not a big fan of the newer punk stuff, but the old shit is the biz.
Angelic Upstarts, Negative Approach, The Clash, Buzzcocks, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedy's, Misfits, Ramones, Black Flag, Anti Nowhere League, Crass, Scream, Exploited, GBH, Discharge, Elvis Hitler, TSOL, Sham 69, Plasmatics to name but a few.
Wasn't a huge fan of the Sex Pistols, much preferred The Damned. I thought they had better songs and were less marketed, plus they were the first UK punk band to release a record, the first UK punk band to split up, the first UK punk band to reform(with Lemmy on bass!) and hell they were even kicked off the first Sex Pistols tour! How punk is that! :D

punk can be alright, but its not like there isn't enough metal, so why settle for second best (or imo about 7th best).
If I had to listen to punk it'd be The Living End (only the self titled album) because at least almost every song has a solo.
LucidDreamer
2005-11-05, 03:18
also forgot:
about the whole nickelback story a couple pages back, the only thing that crop of shit ever did that even barely interests me is the tribute to dime song on their new album which is supposed to have a previously unheard dime solo. I, however, feel that they are using dime's death as a marketing ploy, something that falls well inside the amazingly commercial image they've created. Actually, what am I saying "they". All you ever see or hear is the "singer"/"producers hollywood-style mixing job".

whats up with that though? its the same here in SA. but i thought it was only here because we have SUCH a limited music industry. in fact there is not one successful metal/hardcore band in this country at the moment. i think we have shipped like 1 out to germany.
but ya, whats up with the connection between punk and metal. and if ur into both, why are you still listening to punk. punk is like a gateway from hip hop/pop ---> metal at best (imo).

the link between punk and metal are obvious, especially in cities where the venues are shared and the "scene" is in the same areas. here in providence noise bands, metal bands, grind and hardcore bands will share a lineup for a gig,the musicians in these bands are not so rigidly defined by what they play. musicians may be in many bands that are many different styles. there is not the high school mentallity of a rigid, peer group conformity to any given subgenre of prefabricated culture that is associated with music. shits a little more relaxed where in at. i love tons of hardcore, noise, older 77 style punk, indie rock etc.
