Mourn in silence is really underrated. Probably due to the fact that so many of you hate black metal. Its almost not black metal though, being so melodic and all. Mithotyns really fuckin underrated, mainly since so few people have heard them. And it only gets worse since they broke up. Enough explanations:

Ok, I felt that I should defend my stances on Mercyful Fate and King Diamond.

Mercyful Fate: Ok, most metalheads hail Melissa and even Don't Break the Oath as classics. However, in my eyes, they're right up there with Maiden and even Priest. It's basically Priest style playing, (with the obvious differance in vocals) with even a little bit more bite. Plus some of their riffs are onpar with Maiden and Priest's. Select riffs from "Into the Coven", "A Dangerous Meeting", and pretty much all of "Curse of the Pharoh", come to mind.

King Diamond: Vocally, I believe King Diamond should be mentioned in the same breath as Halford and Dickenson. I know alot of people don't like King Diamond's vocal delivery style, but when he wants to, he's got talent to spare. For example, take his guest apperance on The Usurper's "Necronemesis". That, for me at least, fucking screams "METAL BITCHES!". He has also kept his voice in good condition, as even on The Puppet Master, he sounds as possessed as ever.

But what do I know? I'm just a simple sandwich salesman.

I think Carphurnaum is underrated too. Fractured is definatly one of my favorite albums, and I can listen to it over and over. Much better than Martyr, who too are underrated.

Agalloch need to start doing tours. They are incredibly under-rated. Deeds is starting to get a little more popular, but are very under-rated as well.

Not all death metal is underrated. There are certain deaht bands, that, although within the metal community, are overrated. Cannibal Corpse and Deicide some to mind.

Necrophagist, Dark Angel, Watchtower, SA Slayer, Nasty Savage, Atheist, Cynic, and dare I say, Suffocation. Sure, Suffo are very well known and respected, but in my opinion they are the best all around death metal band, and few people recognize them as such.

I think mortician is overrated. They suck so terribly, to me. I had the cd domain of death for a while, then one day i gave it one last 10 sec. of play, removed from my cd player, and smashed it on the side of the desk.
