Anybody listen to Rotting Christ? What do you think? I just got Thy Mighty Contract and I love it! Sure it's not the most technical shit out there, but something about it is so good.

Also, any recommendations for bands similar to rotting christ?

i always see them described as black metal but they seem more like slow death metal to me
ive heard the stuff off of A dead poem and a triarchy .... wasnt too impressed. the name really puts me off (im not even religious). the vocals are ok, i wouldnt buy a cd

my favorite song is "a sorrowful farewell" or something. catchy riff

i have heard them ridiculed for having "too happy" guitars , and id have to agree

I like them, they're different. A Dead Poem is my favorite song. Their name did through me off too.

i have the Kronos Cd and its pretty descent...some really good songs, some not too great, but overall pretty descent. i've heard a couple tracks of Dead Poem but besides that nothing...i don't really feel the need to buy anymore CD's either, mainly because i'm not into Black Metal much anymore, but also i just don't think they're epic enough.

My only thoughts on Rotting Christ:

I think they should take him down.

I think this is one of the best black metal bands in Greek. I really didn't liked Rotting Christ's newer stuff. Those are bit too goth or something like that to me. But the old stuff were legendary.

Records
Passage to Arcturo EP
Thy Mighty Contract
Non Serviam
are maybe the most important ones.

You should definetly try Varathron or Necromantia, which are also making this greek style/sounding black metal (along with their own style ofcourse). Varathron is bit NWOBHM inspired black metal and Necromantia has it own dark style of playing music (actually they got 8-string bass as the main instrument, what makes in this situation this very dark music).

...take who down?

God, you're fucking dense, aren't you?

I rather like this band. Are they Greek, or is my memory as defective as Weijia's cortex?

Their newest album is the best (Nemesis?)

I saw them live supporting Decapitated and they were pretty good considering that they're classed as black metal. They had some pretty good songs but I don't know any of the names!

Hmmm...can't make jokes anymore. I know what you want, you want a kitten.

I've heard just a few newer songs, and though I liked them I didn't like them as much as thy mighty contract. On the RC website, they say that the newest album is "their best work yet" (don't they always?)... so I'll give that one a listen.

For anyone who's only heard the newer stuff, try to find thy mighty contract. It's great music for getting drunk, lighting shit on fire and smoking copiously (your choice of flammable material). And for summoning demons of course.

Decrepify and Hellblaster thanks for the band suggestions! Can't wait to hear the 8-string bass.
